It is great for cutting openings in installed board including drywall and plywood. It will cut up to 984 ft of 1/2 Inch drywall on a single charge by making use of a 4.0 Amp-hour battery. Variable speed trigger facilitates user to match the speed to the application for superior versatility. Tool has a short 1/4 Inch stroke with an adjustable blade depth up to 1-3/16 Inch to safeguard damage to objects behind the board being cut. The dust port with a clear dust box assures superior visibility, thereby offers increased dust extraction. Built-in dust port swivels for enhanced maneuverability when connected to vacuum hose. Rubberized soft grip handle provides increased comfort. It comes with a 3-stage LED gauge to indicate battery charge level. Saw featuring Star Protection Computer Controls™, allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time. This Star Protection communication technology also monitors condition while in use to safeguard against over-loading, over-discharging and over-heating. It works well with an 18 Volt Lithium-Ion slide style battery. Tool can also be powered by Makita 18 Volt LXT® and compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection. Saw tool features non-marring plastic base cover to safeguard drywall surface from potential damage caused by the metal base.
